What is it?

The Bike Buddy is a pair of gloves integrating the bike handles and the user’s hands, with the purpose of improving accessibility, providing an infallible and easy-to-use method of securing the user’s hands to the machine, and eliminating challenges associated with inexperienced volunteers.

Our goal is to eliminate health disability barriers and further encourage clients experiencing similar conditions to eagerly utilize recreation facilities. 

How to Use Our Product

Step 2 of the instructions to put on the Bike Buddy.

Steps To Use The Bike Buddy:

Please do the following with assistance:

  1. Place the Bike Buddy on the user’s hands as a regular fingerless glove.

  2. Fasten the glove with a piece of rectangular velcro on the bottom side of the glove.

  3. Place the user’s hand onto the handle.

  4. Bring the first strap under the handle and over the user’s fingers, guiding the strap through the opposing slit on the backside of the glove.

  5. Repeat Step 4 with the second strap attached to the glove.

  6. Lightly pull and adjust both straps through their designated slits to ensure security and comfort.

  7. Bring both straps around to the underside of the wrist and attach using the different levels of velcro available.

Production Costs 

Due to the components used to produce the Bike Buddy, the finances for this device proved to be both cost-effective and within our client’s budget. Moving forward with this product, we aim to:

​

  1.  Adjust the ‘elastic straps on the device to be easily replaceable 

  2.   Gain support from Spinal Cord Injury Support Groups 

  3. Spread awareness through the production of this device to grasp the public’s attention on the struggles of fitness and recreation for people with disabilities
